The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) office announced the 2019 All-Conference Men's Soccer Teams, with the University of Redlands earning seven individual awards as well as the SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year.

Sophomore defender Peyton Menti (Seattle, WA), junior midfielder Derrin Valeri (Atlanta, GA), and sophomore forward Steve Acuña (Pico Rivera, CA) collected First-Team All-SCIAC accolades for the first time in their respective careers, while junior defender Mikey Flota (West Covina, CA), junior midfielder Collin ChubbFertal (Eugene, OR), first-year midfielder Joseph Parra (West Covina, CA), and first-year forward Ethan Kovach (Las Vegas, NV) represent the Maroon and Gray on the Second Team for their inaugural appearances.

Menti has provided a spark and vocal presence to the Bulldogs' backline in his 11 conference games this season. In addition to his ability to stop the offensive attack in their tracks, he has provided seven points on three goals and an assist. Each of his points came in the final six games to help the Bulldogs make their SCIAC Postseason tournament push.

Valeri also started in 11 SCIAC games this season and accumulated seven points with three goals and an assist. In the midst of a five-game win streak for the Bulldogs midway through the season, Valeri scored a goal in back-to-back road games to help fuel the team's 18-goal output over the stretch. He also successfully scored his only penalty kick against the University of La Verne and added an assist at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.

Starting in all 12 SCIAC contests for Redlands, Acuña improved in every statistical category from the previous season. He co-led the team with five goals and dished out a team-best six assists to pace the Bulldogs with 16 points in conference action. Midway through the season, Acuña caught fire and strung together three-consecutive games with a goal, including one of his two game-winners. He also served up three assists over the stretch, with two coming in one game.

Representing the Second Team, Flota started in 11 conference games on the Redlands backline this season. His feisty defensive effort has helped lead the Bulldogs to a 0.90 goals-against average, which is the lowest since the 2013 season. Flota also played an integral role in the Maroon and Gray's four shutouts against SCIAC competition.

ChubbFertal competed in 10 SCIAC games with eight starts this season. His natural scoring ability led him to match Acuña's team-high five goals this season. ChubbFertal also provided opportunities for his teammates with two assists for a total of 12 points in the conference. He boasts a .526 shots-on-goal percentage and has netted a team-best two game-winners. His strongest game came on the road with two goals, including the game-winner to help take down Chapman University, 4-1.

After putting together a quality rookie season, Parra makes his debut on the Second Team as a competitive and skilled contributor. He effectively leveraged his speed on the outside to score a goal and dish out two assists for four points in SCIAC games. Nine of his shots landed on target for a solid .643 shots-on-goal percentage.

Kovach joins Parra on the Second Team in his first season with effective play in all 12 conference games, including 11 starts. Kovach's determination and grit helped him to nine points on two goals and five assists through SCIAC competition. He led the team with 34 shots taken and owned a .471 shots-on-goal percentage. His best game came in an 8-0 victory over Caltech during which he scored a goal and an assist to help start a five-game win streak for the Bulldogs. He also notched a game-winner in a 3-1 victory at the University of La Verne.

Despite not returning 13 players from the previous season, Head Coach Ralph Perez and his staff helped mold a young team into a strong SCIAC competitor that currently leads the conference in goals (33), goals per game (2.75), assists (27), points (93), shot percentage (.146), and shots per game (18.8). In the midst of the Bulldogs' success, Perez secured his 200th Redlands win with a 5-0 shutout at home against Pomona-Pitzer. He is joined by assistant coaches Cody Carlson, Claudio Rivas, Gio Napoletano, and Will Roraff.

Redlands (9-4-3, 8-2-2 SCIAC) hosts Whittier College on Wednesday, November 6, in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament semifinal at 7 p.m. on Farquhar Field.
