Casey ChubbFertal's Athlete of the Year Award Highlights Bulldog Men's Soccer's Robust All-SCIAC Accolades

The University of Redlands men's soccer team topped the charts amongst the other Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) schools with eight student-athletes collecting nine postseason awards.  In addition to five First-Teamers and three Second-Team honorees, the Bulldogs gained the SCIAC Men's Soccer Athlete of the Year in senior midfielder Casey ChubbFertal (Eugene, OR).

Beyond his Athlete of the Year award, ChubbFertal collects his third-consecutive First-Team nod. He has played a huge part in Redlands' undefeated run through conference play that resulted in a record of 12-0-2 and the program's 15th regular-season title. ChubbFertal consistently brings composure, skill, and determination to the midfield as the orchestrator of the offense. He has found the back of the net seven times, including three game-winners, while also serving up four assists for a team-leading 18 points in conference competition. Furthermore, he sits among the top five in the SCIAC in goals, game-winners, assists, and points.

Senior forward Chase Boone (Beaverton, OR), junior forward Kayvon Parsa (West Hills, CA), senior defender Ben Thompson (Spokane, WA), and junior midfielder Arman Mogharei (Hayward, CA) also garnered First-Team accolades.

Boone becomes a three-time First-Team selection with this year's nod. His fast feet and technical skills have helped him tally four goals and a team-leading, five assists for 13 points against conference foes. Parsa also earns his third-consecutive award after receiving last year's Second-Team nod and the 2015 SCIAC Newcomer of the Year award. A traditional striker who stays poised under pressure, Parsa has scored five goals, including two game-winners, and dished out one assist for 11 points in SCIAC action.  Thompson impresses with his second-consecutive First-Team award. As the heart and soul of the Bulldog defense, he helps establish the backline while shutting down opponents' offenses. He has headed in two goals, including the come-from-behind, game-winner at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges. Mogharei rounds out the First Team with his inaugural All-Conference award. Mogharei's physical style of play and vision of the field help to organize the midfield in order to maintain possession and create scoring chances.

Additionally, senior goalkeeper Josh Haskill (Lakewood, CA), senior midfielder Sergio Valencia (San Jose, CA), and sophomore forward Antony Chonga (San Diego, CA) landed on the Second Team.

While collecting his second All-SCIAC award, Haskill offers great agility, vision, and superb ball distribution as the team's last line of defense. He sits second in the conference for fewest goals conceded with seven and a low goals-against average of 0.70. Valencia receives his inaugural All-SCIAC award with this year's Second-Team selection. His speed and emotional style of play have allowed him to score four goals and supply four assists for 12 points in 13 conference games played. His latest goal served as the game-winner against Pomona-Pitzer to clinch the programs' fourth-consecutive, regular-season title.  Rounding out the impressive list of All-SCIAC honorees, Chonga represents the Bulldogs as a first-time recipient. Currently, Chonga sits in second place on the team with six goals, including two game-winners, during SCIAC competition. Twice this season he has scored two goals in a game, including the final, regular-season match against Occidental College to preserve the team's undefeated season.
