Redlands Men's Soccer Climbs to No. 19 on United Soccer Coaches Poll

It was announced earlier today by the United Soccer Coaches that the University of Redlands men's soccer team moved up from No. 25 to No. 19 on the October 3 poll.

This week's ranking comes after a 1-0 win against Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) foe, Chapman University, and a 4-0 victory against in-region opponent, UC Santa Cruz.

Junior forward Kayvon Parsa (West Hills, CA) scored the game-winning goal against Chapman on a penalty kick in the 48th minute.

Sophomore forward Antony Chonga (San Diego, CA) supplied the game-winner on a beautiful, unassisted goal. He scored his second on a penalty kick for the Maroon and Gray's 2-0 halftime lead. Freshman midfielder Derrin Valeri (Atlanta, GA) got in on the action when he banged one home in the 68th minute for his first goal of his young Bulldog career. Incredibly, he scored another goal just a minute later off of a nice assist from senior forward Chase Boone (Beaverton, OR).

Senior goalkeeper John Melito (Keller, TX) made six saves over the two games to preserve the shutout week.

Redlands (8-3-0, 7-0-0 SCIAC) returns to SCIAC action as the Bulldogs take to the road for their next two games at Caltech and the University of La Verne.
