Three Bulldog Men’s Soccer Standouts Earn NSCAA Scholar All-America Distinction

It was announced earlier today by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) that three University of Redlands men's soccer student-athletes have been named to the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's Scholar All-America Teams. Junior midfielder Casey ChubbFertal (Eugene, OR), junior midfielder Chase Boone (Beaverton, OR), and junior goalkeeper Josh Haskill (Lakewood, CA) each exceeded the minimum qualifications to be considered for this award, including junior standing with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 as a significant contributor to their team in more than half of the contests.

Only four Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) student-athletes received this honor, with Redlands taking three of the four spots.

Among the many accomplishments of the Bulldog men's soccer team this season, these three Bulldogs contributed to the squad's final national ranking of seventh in the country.

Highlighting the triad, ChubbFertal represents Redlands on the Scholar All-America First Team. This impact player served as the main ball-distributor by dishing out a team-high eight assists. His efforts helped lift Redlands to No. 8 in the final NCAA Division III statistical rankings for total assists. ChubbFertal also topped the charts in game-winning goals for the team and conference, as five of his 11 goals came as the decisive score. Individually, he finished 24th among the national rankings for game-winning goals.

Next, Boone earned a spot on the Scholar All-America Third Team. With his 18 goals and seven assists for a total of 43 points, he helped boost the team to 10th in total goals and ninth in total points in all of Division III. Individually, Boone ranks 11th and 12th in the nation for total points and total goals, respectively. Twice this season, Boone notched a goal in four-consecutive games to help propel the team over tough SCIAC opponents. He also recorded four multi-goal games this year.

Haskill rounds out the Third Team for the Bulldogs. Haskill's quick feet and insight into the game helped him amass nine wins and two shutouts in more than 1,100 minutes played. Haskill came up huge in the NCAA tournament by making three saves against DePauw and four incredible saves to upset No. 1 University of Chicago.
