Redlands Men's Soccer Garners Five All-Conference Nods

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced earlier today that five players from the conference-champion University of Redlands men's soccer team landed among the 2016 All-Conference teams, as voted upon the by head coaches of the member institutions. Junior forward Chase Boone (Beaverton, OR), junior midfielder Casey ChubbFertal (Eugene, OR), and junior defenders Ben Thompson (Spokane, WA) and Keoni Yates (Kailua-Kona, HI) each collected First-Team honors, while sophomore forward Kayvon Parsa (West Hills, CA) snagged a spot on the Second Team.

Equipped with an impressive ability to create quality opportunities in the offensive third, Boone earns his second-consecutive First-Team nod.  While competing in all 16 conference games during the Bulldogs' double-championship run, he ranked first among the SCIAC with 14 goals, including three game-winners.  He also dished out two assists for a conference-best 30 points.  He finished the regular season by scoring at least one goal in six of the Bulldogs' final seven games.

ChubbFertal also repeats as a First-Team honoree following last season's honor.  Equipped with an innate ability to change the dynamics of the game, he provided six goals, including three game-winners, to go along with six assists for 18 points against SCIAC foes.  After starting in all 16 games, ChubbFertal also leads the conference midfielders in scoring this season.

With grit and tenacity, Yates and Thompson represent the Bulldogs' stingy defense among the First-Team selections.  Yates gains his second-straight First-Team nod, while Thompson reels in his inaugural such award.  The duo has played an integral role in the team's conference-best, goals-against average of .98, which includes seven shutouts this season.  On the other side of the field, Yates has offered three assists, with Thompson adding one.

Parsa rounds out Redlands' selections with a spot on the All-SCIAC Second Team. Following last year's SCIAC Newcomer of the Year and First-Team accolade, he continued to leave his mark on Bulldog men's soccer by scoring six goals with one game-winner and dishing out two assists in conference competition.
