The 13th-ranked University of Redlands men's soccer team traveled to Claremont on Saturday night to face off in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) game against the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges Stags. With three different Bulldogs notching at least goal, the Maroon and Gray solidified its spot among the top of the standings with an impressive 5-1 showing.

Junior forward Chase Boone (Beaverton, OR) set the tone early by quickly driving the ball to CMS' goal by redirecting a deflected shot in the sixth minute.

Only two minutes later, junior midfielder Sergio Valencia (San Jose, CA) collected a great pass from sophomore forward Kayvon Parsa (West Hills, CA) and blasted it past the Stag goalkeeper for the Bulldogs' 2-0 lead.

Redlands continued to press and benefitted from an own goal that came off of a long throw-in for a 3-0 advantage less than 12 minutes into the game.

Although CMS found the back of the net in the 55th minute, Redlands quickly responded when junior midfielder Casey ChubbFertal (Eugene, OR) delivered a pass that found the foot of Boone, who netted his second goal of the night.

Junior forward Alexander Knox (Spokane, WA) joined the scoring frenzy in the 73rd minute by gathering a great pass from junior midfielder Will MacFarlane (Park City, UT) and uncorking the Bulldogs' fifth goal to complete the team's scoring barrage.

Junior goalkeeper John Melito (Keller, TX) made five great stops to contribute to the Maroon and Gray's stellar win.

The Bulldogs (11-2-0, 9-1-0 SCIAC) return to Farquhar Field on Monday, October 10, to take on the Cal Lutheran University Kingsmen in a SCIAC showdown. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
