The University of Redlands men's soccer team traveled to Orange on Wednesday for an afternoon match-up against Chapman University.  While competing in their third Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) of the season, the Bulldogs struggled to convert on offense while giving up a hat trick en route to the 0-3 loss to the Panthers.

Redlands came out with an aggressive mindset, earning its first corner kick in the fourth minute of action.  Moments later, sophomore forward Chase Boone (Beaverton, OR) fired off the Maroon and Gray's opening shot, but it sailed high over the crossbar.

The Bulldogs kept attacking the Panther goal by creating a pair of header-shots but to no avail.

After the Panthers got on the board in the 23rd minute, a slew of Bulldog substitutions inspired back-to-back offensive attempts, including sophomore midfielder Casey ChubbFertal's (Eugene, OR) blast off the post.

The second half saw a pair of goals for Chapman to put the game out of reach, as the fouls and yellow cards continued to rise for both sides.  Similar to Redlands' recent game against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College, tonight's contest was an intense battle that included six yellow cards and one red card between the teams.

Although the Maroon and Gray tallied 12 total shots, only three of them landed on-frame, as the Bulldogs struggled to convert their opportunities.  Redlands also won the corner-kick battle with four chances, as compared to the home team's three.

Boone and ChubbFertal accounted for six of the Bulldogs' shots, while freshman forward Kayvon Parsa (West Hills, CA) added two.

Sophomore goalkeepers Dylan Ochoa (Santa Monica, CA) and Josh Haskill (Lakewood, CA) split time between the pipes, as Ochoa picked up the loss.

Redlands (3-2, 1-2 SCIAC) strives to bounce back on Saturday, September 19, when it travels to Caltech for a conference match against the Beavers.  Game time is tentatively set for 2 p.m.
