The University of Redlands men's soccer team's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) voyage continued on Saturday when it faced off against the University of La Verne Leopards in an important road-match. Despite a game-tying, second-half goal by senior forward Charles Izydorek (Redlands, CA) in the 55th minute, the Bulldogs eventually fell to the Leopards by a score of 1-2.

The Bulldogs had no shortage of opportunities, as they blasted off 17 shots in the contest. Leading the way, Izydorek recorded six attempts, including the only score of the game, which came off of a penalty kick. In addition, freshman defender Casey ChubbFertal (Eugene, OR) was active on the offensive end by unleashing three shots of his own.

In a total-team effort, the Bulldogs' defensive unit did its best to create scoring chances, as freshman Ben Thompson (Spokane, WA) and senior Nico Johnson (Las Vegas, NV) each uncorked two shots in the contest.

Freshman goalkeeper Josh Haskill (Lakewood, CA) recorded two saves while also keeping the Leopards off the scoreboard for the final 56 minutes of action.

The Maroon and Gray tallied five corner kicks to La Verne's one.

Redlands (8-8-0, 7-5-0 SCIAC) faces off in another SCIAC showdown on Monday, October 20, when it welcomes the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges Stags to Farquhar Field at 7 p.m.
