While firing off 25 shots and nine corner kicks, the University of Redlands men's soccer team prevailed over the Caltech Beavers by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown in Pasadena. Twelve of the Maroon and Gray's chances were on goal, forcing the Caltech goalkeeper to make a save.

After the Beavers recorded a quick yellow card less than 30 seconds into the game, the Bulldogs responded with six shots in the first 20 minutes of action.

During the second half, Redlands continued to dominate the offensive third of the field, en route to earning five corner-kick opportunities in the first 12 minutes.

The Bulldogs' persistence paid off in the 72nd minute, when senior defender Nico Johnson (Las Vegas, NV) crossed the ball into the box, finding senior forward Charles Izydorek (Redlands, CA), who headed the game-winning goal into the back of the net.

Izydorek and senior forward Matej Kustura (Las Vegas, NV) led the offensive onslaught by combining for 12 shots. Freshman forward Chase Boone (Beaverton, OR) also tallied three shots for the Maroon and Gray.

Redlands (8-7, 7-4 SCIAC) heads to the University of La Verne for a crucial conference match against the Leopards on Saturday at 7 p.m.
