The University of Redlands men's soccer team returned to Messiah College (PA) for the first time since the 2001 season and faced the 10-time national champions in a non-conference match on Friday evening.  Unfortunately, the Bulldogs' result was not the same as in their original meeting against the Falcons, as they suffered a 0-4 defeat to the top-ranked squad.

The two teams' first faced off in the semifinal of the 2001 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championships, during which Redlands prevailed in a 2-1 overtime thriller.

This year, the Falcons came out firing and quickly earned a 2-0 lead by the end of the seventh minute.  From there, the Maroon and Gray worked to disrupt the home team's offensive rhythm, holding them scoreless for the next 46 minutes.

However, Messiah successfully converted two additional scoring opportunities in the second half to secure the solid win.

The Bulldogs mustered six total shots, with junior midfielder/forward Pat Roraff (Redlands, CA) registering two to lead the team.

In just his second start of his young career, freshman goalkeeper Josh Haskill (Lakewood, CA) recorded eight saves against the relentless Falcon attack.

Redlands (1-2) now faces Gettysburg College (PA) later today in a 4 p.m. PT match on the Bullets' Clark Field.  Fans may follow the action via live stats and streaming at http://portal.stretchinternet.com/gettysburg/.
