The University of Redlands men's soccer team dropped out of first place in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) after tying Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, 1-1, on Monday afternoon. Despite taking a 1-0 lead into halftime, the Bulldogs could not hold the lead and allowed a second-half goal that tied the contest.

Early on in the first half, sophomore forward Charles Izydorek (Redlands, CA) just missed out on converting an opportunity when he one-timed a shot off the right post.

After maintaining the majority of the possession early on, Redlands finally got on the board when Izydorek found senior midfielder Gabe Ramirez (Pasadena, CA) on the top-left side of the 18-yard box. Ramirez took one touch and then bent a curling shot into the top-right corner of the goal, leaving the Sagehen keeper with no chance. The goal was Ramirez's third of the campaign and his second in as many contests.

However, at the 52:20-mark in the second stanza, Sagehen senior midfielder Danny Nasry (Portland, OR) hit a shot from 20 yards out, which forced Redlands junior goalkeeper Andreas Silva (San Jose, CA) to make a diving save. The save rebounded straight to Sagehen freshman forward Guy Thyer (Seattle, WA), who tapped in the opportunity to tie the game at one.

Neither squad could find the goal to decide the victor, so the two sides headed into overtime.

Despite outshooting the Sagehens, 4-0, in the first overtime, the Bulldogs struggled to find the back of the net. Junior defender Evan Keny-Guyer (Portland, OR) came the closest for the Maroon and Gray when he ripped a shot 35 yards from goal and watched it narrowly miss the top-right corner.

The second overtime didn't see many chances for either side, as the two teams settled for the draw.

The Bulldogs were out-shot by the Sagehens on the game, 14-11, and only tallied two shots on frame in all.

Redlands (3-2-3, 3-0-2) heads to the University of La Verne on Wednesday to take on the Leopards in a crucial SCIAC showdown. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
