The midfielder duo of junior Alex Laughton (Pleasanton, CA) and sophomore Will Walker (Folsom, CA) led the way for the University of Redlands men's soccer program during Saturday's 2-0 victory over Pomona-Pitzer Colleges for the season sweep of the second-place Sagehens.  With today's result, the Bulldogs continue to hold down the top spot in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) standings.

With his back to the goal, Laughton took a pass from freshman forward Charles Izydorek (Redlands, CA), then turned and fired a shot into the back right corner of the net.  He registered his second score of the season during the 40th minute as an offensive spark off the Maroon and Gray bench.

The Bulldogs added a little breathing room just after halftime when Walker recorded his seventh point in the last two games. UR took advantage of a counterattack opportunity as junior midfielder Gabe Ramirez (Pasadena, CA) added to his conference-leading assist total (6a) by feeding Walker with a cross for the scoring header at the 48:27-mark.

Redlands secured its sixth straight, complete-game shutout behind a stellar defensive backline and the solid play of sophomore starting goalkeeper Andreas Silva (San Jose, CA).  With the support of his defenders, Silva notched his 11th win of the season, picking up five saves in the process.

Redlands (11-3-0, 8-0-0) faces the Kingsmen of Cal Lutheran University on Wednesday in a unique soccer doubleheader at Farquhar Field, beginning at 4 p.m.  The Bulldog women kick off against the CLU Regals at 7 p.m. during the program's Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
