Redlands Men’s Soccer Surrenders First SICAC Loss at CMS

The University of Redlands men's soccer team lost its first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match of the season against the Stags of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Wednesday evening by a score of 0-1.

With the loss, the Bulldogs currently share the top spot of the SCIAC standings with the Stags.

Sophomore forward David Taylor (Brookline, MA) registered the lone score of the match as he received Michael Nguyentat's (Carmichael, CA) pass from the outside, posting his third netter of the season in the 82nd minute.

The Maroon and Gray recorded seven shots in the contest, which included several close opportunities late in the ball game, but struggled to find the back of the net.

In a critical match on Saturday, Redlands (9-2-2, 8-1-2 SCIAC) hosts the Kingsmen of Cal Lutheran University at 6 p.m. as part of the school's annual Homecoming celebration. The Bulldogs hope to fill Farquhar Field with as many fans as possible. They strive to surpass the largest attendance recorded during Head Coach Ralph Perez's tenure at Redlands, which sits at 613 from the Bulldogs' Senior Night against Cal Lutheran on Oct. 20, 2007.
