U of R Men's Golf Battles through Challenging Cullum Invitational

The University of Redlands men's golf team competed in its second and final tournament of the fall season by traveling to Simi Valley for the Bill Cullum Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.  While taking on quality golfers from various NCAA Division I teams, the Bulldogs finished 12th with a 54-hole total of 896.

Junior Cade Lawson (Lake Oswego, OR) and sophomore Cameron Cooper (Seattle, WA) paced the Maroon and Gray with scores of 223, which placed them in a tie for 48th place overall.  Lawson fired off his best round of 72 in the first 18 holes, while Cooper finished the tournament with a 72 for his lowest score.  In addition, Cooper ranked among the best at the tournament in par-three scoring by shooting even.

While co-leading the field in pars, junior Alex Stroes (San Marcos, CA) notched a 224 (71-79-74) with 40 even holes.  Senior George Galanis (Chicago, IL) also shot three rounds in the 70s for a 228 (74-79-75), as highlighted by two eagles to tie for first in this category at the tournament.

Finally, sophomore Jake Hollander (Peterborough, NH) completed the Bulldogs' scoring five with a 233 (72-83-78), which included a plus-one 3.08 on the par-three holes and one eagle during the three rounds.

Sophomore Diego Cortes (Santiago, Chile) also gained experience at the high-caliber outing, earning a 54-hole total of 229 (75-81-73).

Redlands looks forward to the spring portion of the season, which begins with CSU San Marcos Spring Invitational on Monday, February 5, and Tuesday, February 6, at the Shadowridge Country Club in Vista.
