It was announced earlier today that senior John McCord (Oakland, CA) of the University of Redlands men's golf program was named to the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division III PING All-West Region First Team for the fourth time in his career.

McCord capped off an illustrious career by winning the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship Tournament in wire-to-wire fashion.  He fired off an opening round of 65 to set the stage for a solid finish that resulted in a 54-hole score of 210 (65-73-72).  As a result of his outstanding conference season, he was named the 2016 Lee Fulmer SCIAC Athlete of the Year.

In addition, McCord was tabbed as a semifinalist for the prestigious Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year.

According to GolfStat, McCord is ranked 16th in NCAA Division III, with an adjusted scoring average of 74.15.

Throughout the 2015-16 season, McCord was the epitome of consistency with 18 of his 25 rounds coming in at 75 or better, as highlighted by six in the 60s.  Aside from his conference-low of 65, he registered back-to-back 69s at the 20th Del Walker Intercollegiate Classic at the Virginia Country Club in Long Beach.
