SCIAC Athlete of the Year John McCord and First-Teamer Alex Stroes Represent Bulldog Men's Golf among All-Conference Honorees

It was announced earlier today that the No. 16 University of Redlands men's golf team gained a pair of All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) honorees in senior John McCord (Oakland, CA) as the Lee Fulmer Athlete of the Year and freshman Alex Stroes (San Marcos, CA) as a First-Team selection.

McCord recently won the SCIAC Championship Tournament by leading the event wire-to-wire with a six-under score of 210 (65-73-72) through 54 holes.  His opening round of 65 was his best in SCIAC competition en route to a seven-round average of 72.86.  Overall, he earned an adjusted scoring average of 74.15 to rank 16th in NCAA Division III according to GolfStat.

Stroes erupted on the Bulldog scene with consistent rounds throughout the SCIAC season, culminating in a six-round average of 75.16.  He fired off a season-best round of 69 during the last 18 holes of the SCIAC Championship Tournament, which proved to be instrumental in the Bulldogs' second-place finish.  Throughout the season, he put together an adjusted scoring average of 76.68 for an impressive rookie showing.
