Sophomore Forward David Menary Reels in Second-Team All-SCIAC Award for Bulldog Men’s Basketball

David Menary was named to the All-SCIAC Second Team.

It was announced early Friday that sophomore David Menary (Grass Valley, CA) represented the University of Redlands on the 2018 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Second Team, as determined by the head coaches of the nine member institutions.

In 16 conference games, Menary earned a scoring average of 19.3 points, which landed him second among the SCIAC competitors.  With talent and precision, he converted his shots at a 53.1% clip.  His presence in the paint allowed him to rank second in the conference with 8.1 rebounds per game.  Menary also provided 39 assists, 17 steals, and 16 blocks during conference competition.

Menary dropped in a career-high 30 points against Cal Lutheran University on January 13 by shooting 73.3% on 11-for-15 shooting.  He recorded double-doubles against Chapman University (16 points, 10 rebounds), Whittier College (16, 13), the University of La Verne (22, 10), and Cal Lutheran (20, 15).

Overall, he scored 395 points on the season for an average of 16.5 while shooting 54.1% from the floor.  Defensively, Menary hauled in 181 rebounds, with nearly half of them coming on the offensive end, for 7.5 rebounds per game.  He added 52 assists, 29 steals, and 25 blocks to an outstanding sophomore campaign.

This marks Menary's first All-SCIAC award in his young Bulldog career.
