Michael (Mike) McFarland joins the Bulldogs football coaching staff as an assistant coach who will coach the tight ends for the 2022 season.

McFarland comes to the Bulldogs program with two decades of coaching experience that dates to 2002 when he began his coaching career as an assistant at Occidental. After four years with the Tigers, he spent time as an assistant coach at Minnesota State Moorhead (2006-07), Missouri Western (2007-09), and Missouri S&T (2014-18).

During the previous four seasons, he was at Redlands High School (2018-21) where McFarland was the head coach and taught social science. Other head coaching stops include Pasadena High School (2009) and Temple City High School (2010-14).

Along with his time at Occidental, McFarland comes from a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) background as he graduated from Cal Lutheran University in 1997 with a BA in Social Science.

McFarland currently works at Citrus Valley High School where he is a social science teacher, the same job he has held while at Redlands High School, Temple City High School, and Pasadena High School. He is married to Tiffany and has three children.
