Vicente Garcia named SCIAC Specialist of the Week

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Football Athletes of the Week in the ninth week of voting.  University of Redlands sophomore place kicker Vicente Garcia (Fontana, CA) was selected as the SCIAC Specialist of the Week.

This recognition marks the second time this season Vicente has been named the SCIAC Specialist of the Week, being selected back on October 12.  He is also one of four Redlands players to earn this honor, joining Tony Williams Jr., Brendan Marmion, and Giovanni Isles.     

Vicente helped the Maroon and Grey to a 65-7 conference win over Whittier College, which secured them the AQ Bid into the NCAA Division III National Championships. He notched 11 points for the Bulldogs, converting on 8-of-9 extra-point attempts, while also hitting on 1-of-2 field goals. His make was from 39 yards out. He also notched one punt of 42 yards. 

Redlands improves to 7-1, 5-0 SCIAC and return to the field this Saturday, November 13 when they host Cal Lutheran University for the Smudge Pot Rivalry game.
