Bulldog Football Rises to No. 18 on D3football.com and No. 23 on AFCA Top-25 Polls

It was announced today that the University of Redlands football team rose on both the D3football.com and American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top-25 polls to No. 18 and No. 23, respectively. The Bulldogs impressed in their last four games against Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic (SCIAC) teams, averaging a 37.75 scoring margin. The team now owns an 8-1 overall record and 5-1 mark in conference play.

Junior wide receiver Khory Day (Fresno, CA) currently sits third in the nation with 16 punt returns. He has totaled 313 punt return yards for a third-place, 19.6 return yard average. He continued this pattern with three punt returns for 61 yards in last weekend's game against Whittier. He averaged 20.3 yards per return with a long of 30.

As a team, the Bulldogs take the top spot in the country in turnover margin with plus-21 and sit in second nationally with 29 turnovers gained. Also on defense, the team takes the third spot in the country with 18 interceptions. Senior defensive back Jeff Hector (Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA) leads the team corraling seven of them while senior defensive back Vincent Vanhorne (Henderson, NV) snagged a pick in last Saturday's game.

Offensively, Redlands ranks tied-for-third in the country in fourth-down conversion percentage. The team converted 10 of 14 attempts for a .714 clip this season.

Following the solid victory against Whittier on senior night, the Bulldogs head to Occidental College on Saturday, November 16, for their last SCIAC game of the season. Kickoff is slated for 1:05 p.m.
