PASADENA, Calif. – The University of Redlands Baseball team (16-20, 8-14 SCIAC) picked up their fourth-straight win thanks to 15 runs on 18 hits offensively and a complete game from Tyler Reiter (San Diego, CA) as the Bulldogs beat Caltech on the road 15-2 Friday afternoon.

Despite the final scoreline, the game did not start great as the Bulldogs stranded two runners in the top half of the first before the Beavers hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the inning.

The Bulldogs, though, scored eight times on seven hits in the second as Kaiya Saito (Bellevue, WA) and Jake Burgess (Riverside, CA) each had infield singles with one out. The scoring  started with Will Cell (Seattle, WA) who drove in Saito from second on a single into left field. Luke De Vries (Irvine, CA) then had the game-winning hit as he drove in Burgess and Cell on a single to right field.

The next three runs came courtesy of a Jared Anderson (Gilbert, AZ) RBI-single and a two-run hit from Omar Barraza (San Mateo, CA) as Anderson and Max Clark (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) each scored for a 6-2 lead.

The final two runs of the inning came after the center fielder for Caltech committed an error allowing Barraza and Sebastian Mejorado (Oceanside, CA) to come home.

Six of the final seven runs for Redlands came in the third and fourth innings as a wild pitch started the third inning scoring, allowing Anderson to come home. Mejorado then doubled home Clark for an eight-run advantage as both runs in the inning came with two outs.

In the fourth Saito hit his first collegiate home run, a lead off home run to left field. Then with Burgess at third after a single and an error on a failed pickoff, he took the final 90 feet on another wild pitch.

Despite the two outs, the Bulldogs were not done, Anderson walked, Clark singled through the left side and then after a wild pitch, which moved them both into scoring position, Gabriel Ceja (Long Beach, CA) made it 14-2 with a two-run double.

Reiter settled in nicely after the first, allowing only two hits through the fourth. That dominance continued as he kept the Beavers off the scoreboard through the sixth.

In the seventh, Will Daniels (Crestline, CA) joined Saito with his first home run of the season and the first of his Bulldog career as he left the yard out to right field for the final score of 15-2.

The Bulldog offense had 18 hits and five walks. Anderson was a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk and Burgess matched him with three hits as well. Ceja and Saito each had 2-for-4 afternoons as 11 players recorded a hit.

Reiter finished the game with seven, two-run innings and nine strikeouts. He did not allow a run over his final 6.2 as he finishes his season with seven wins and a 1.46 earned run average (ERA). That ERA will be the fifth lowest in single-season program history.

The Bulldogs' season will come to an end tomorrow as they host Caltech for a doubleheader at 11:00 a.m. Preceding first pitch of game one will be the senior day ceremonies starting around 15 minutes prior to first pitch.
