Felix Minjarez called up to AAA El Paso Chihuahuas

REDLANDS, Calif. – Former starting pitcher for the University of Redlands Baseball team Felix Minjarez (Riverside, CA) '18 continues to make noise within the San Diego Padres Farm System as he was recently called up from High-A to AAA where he will now play for the El Paso Chihuahuas.

Minjarez, formerly with the Fort Wayne Tincaps as a reliever was called up recently skipping Double-A entirely because the Padres felt the 25-year-old has performed well enough at Fort Wayne.  He has proven to be one of the most prolific strikeout pitchers in the Midwest League this year striking out 32 across 21.2 innings, while posting a 4-0 record and a 3.74 ERA.  Combined with his 73 innings at Fort Wayne last season, the Padres had seen plenty to promote him.

Over his career within the minors, he has played in 97 games, throwing 183.2 Innings with an overall record of 15-7.  He has accumulated a 3.09 ERA with 221 strikeouts and a 1.27 WHIP.

In his career with the Bulldogs Minjarez appeared in 54 games with a 31-10 record, totaling 327.1 Innings pitched, 321 strikeouts, an 8.83 K/9 Innings mark and a 3.11 ERA.  He also collected the hardware over his four years being named 1st Team All-SCIAC (2015, 2017, 2018), the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year (2015), the SCIAC Pitcher of the Year (2017), D3baseball.com Pitcher of the Year (2017), D3baseball.com All-West Region (2017, 2018), D3baseball.com All-American (2017), ABCA/Rawlings Pitcher of the Year (2017), ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region (2017, 2018), and ABCA/Rawlings All-American (2017, 2018).
