Game 1 (W, 14-8)

The Sagehens struck first in their at-bats in the 2nd Inning, but saw that lead go away quickly in the 4th off the bat of Jonah Advincula (Santa Clara, CA) who porched a three-run shot down the right field line plating Mark Kirkland (Redlands, CA) (Single) and Esteban Nakashima Riverside, CA) ( (HBP).  Kirkland then came up clutch with a two out single in the 5th driving in Payton Walsh (Santa Ana, CA) (Single).

After a pair of walks to start the 6th Inning, Bulldog starter Cameron Kundig (Redlands, CA) was pulled and Nathan Buchan (Mercer Island, WA) was brought in.  But he was unable to limit the damage giving up three runs and a hit that evened the game at 4-4.

In the 7th, Redlands had another big frame bringing across four runs on five hits.  Walsh connected on a single to right to start off the inning and Jared Anderson (Gilbert, AZ) moved him up with a single up the middle.  Nakashima advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt and Kirkland and Matthew Brumbaugh (Chula Vista, CA) followed with a single through the right side and a double down the left field line, repsectively that scored three.  But the Maroon and Grey weren't done as Max Smyley (Sarasota, FL) got into the mix with a double to left center that plated Brumbaugh opening the game up.

Insurance was added in the 8th by the Bulldogs with Kirkland again responding with two outs this time with a double to left center that scored Nakashima (HBP) and Anderson (Error 3B).  Then in the 9th, the bats remained hot with another four runs coming in on three hits, sparked by another homerun from Advincula who went to right field for a solo shot.  Luke De Vries (Irvine, CA) capitalized on a pinch-hit opportunity with two a pair of runners in scoring position.  He would send one into center bringing in one.  After an Anderson walk that loaded the bases Nakashima was hit by a pitch that brought in another and Kirkland followed with a sacrifice fly that moved the score to 14-4.

But the game wasn't done as PP would put together a late rally in their final at-bats with another four runs to get within six.  With two runners on C. Stofko would drive in one with a single to center and D. Bedrosian would follow with a three run shot to dead center that forced Rohen out of the game.  After that Omar Barraza (San Mateo, CA) came in relief and shut down the PP bats with a strikeout and a grounder that ended the threat.

Kirkland finished 4-for-5 with five RBI's and two runs scored.  Advincula was 3-for-5 scoring twice and driving in four along with a pair of homeruns, Smyley was 2-for-4 with a run and RBI and Walsh finished 2-for-5 scoring a couple times.

Game 2 (L, 4-3)

It was a pitchers dual in the second game of the doubleheader, which took two days to finish.  The game was called due to darkness on Saturday with the game tied at 3-3.  Redlands then returned on Sunday to finish and Pomona-Pitzer would walk-off 4-3 in the 9th to salvage the split.

PP went on top early in their opening at-bats with an RBI groundout.  Redlands tied the game up in the 5th with a single from Anderson that scored Walsh (Single), but UR gave that advantage back in the bottom half of the inning as PP would capitalize on a Bulldog miscue to go on top 2-1.

The Sagehens tacked on another in the 6th with J. Legg driving one into center with two outs that scored H. Deliyannis.  Then in the 7th the Maroon and Grey rallied with two runs on two hits.  Walsh started the inning off with a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch.  Anderson reached getting hit by a pitch and both runners moved up 90 feet after a second wild pitch.  With one out Kirkland stepped in and drove one to deep left that scored one and Brumbaugh came up with a huge base knock to right center that brought in the game tying run.

Coming back the next day the Bulldogs had an opportunity in the 9th getting Kirkland (Single) and Advincula (Single) on.  But the rally ended with Smyley lining out to the shortstop that ended the threat.  In the bottom half of the frame PP got the bases loaded and one out.  Redlands thwarted the first attempt to score getting a force out at home.  But they couldn't stop the second try as K. Lo would single to right sending the Sagehens to the walk-off.

Brumbaugh finished 3-for-5 with an RBI, Advincula was 2-for-5 and Anderson was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.  Tyler Reiter (San Diego, CA) picked up the loss throwing the final 1.2 Innings giving up that one run on two hits, while walking three.
