Senior Third Baseman Brendan Gardiner Represents Redlands on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Baseball Team

It was recently announced that senior third baseman Brendan Gardiner (Mission Viejo, CA) was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Baseball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) and recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Gardiner well exceeded the minimum 3.3 grade-point average to be considered for this award.

Gardiner was named to the District 8 team, a region that is comprised of just 11 players selected from all schools throughout the west. Senior infielder Jared Love of Chapman University and junior designated hitter CJ Novogradac of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges were also selected from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

This season Gardiner has been instrumental in helping the University of Redlands to its historic 33-11 season. He broke the Bulldogs' single-season hits record with 69 hits so far. He also leads the team with a .418 batting average, .529 on-base percentage, and .642 slugging percentage. Most recently, Gardiner was named the 2018 SCIAC Athlete of the Year in addition to being named to the First- Team.

He also excels in the classroom as a member of the SCIAC All-Academic Team.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, with first and second team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in June. For a complete list of Academic All-District honorees, please visit the CoSIDA website.
