No. 11/18 Redlands Baseball on the Rise on Pair of Polls

It was recently announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3baseball.com that the University of Redlands baseball team has moved up from No. 15/20 to No. 11/18 on their current respective polls.

This rise in the rankings comes after a series sweep over Occidental College that saw the Bulldogs score 26 runs over the three games. The Maroon and Gray shut out the Tigers in the first two games and only gave up two runs in the final contest.

Senior pitcher Adam Stead (Rialto, CA) continues to impress from the mound and recorded 11 strikeouts for the second time this season during Saturday's opener. He pitched 7.2 innings for an incredible 0.00 ERA and holds a season ERA of 1.35 over 66.2 innings pitched.

Furthermore, the team ranks fourth in all of NCAA Division III in hits with 408, including a national-best 98 doubles. The Bulldogs also hold the two-spot with 305 runs scored. Finally, the team sits in third with six shutouts.

Individually, junior shortstop Aaron Singh (Anaheim, CA) takes the No. 1 spot in all of Division III with 18 doubles, while senior third baseman Brendan Gardiner (Mission Viejo, CA) ranks first with 48 runs scored.

After celebrating commencement this weekend, Redlands (28-9, 16-5 SCIAC) returns to action in a big Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) series against the Sagehens, beginning on Friday, April 27, at Pomona-Pitzer. The team returns to The Yard to wrap up the regular season with a doubleheader on Senior Day against Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday, April 28, at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
