It was recently announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association of America (ABCA) that the University of Redlands baseball squad broke into the first coach's poll of the season at No. 30 in the nation.

Joining only one other Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) squad in the rankings, the Bulldogs have earned an overall record of 13-6 thus far with a 7-2 conference record. More recently, the Bulldogs swept a Saturday doubleheader from the No. 29 Cal Lutheran University Kingsmen on March 12 by final scores of 2-1 (10 inn.) and 5-3 (11 inn.)

Offensively, senior right-fielder Christian Gurrola (Torrance, CA) heads the powerful lineup by producing a line of .418/.446/.438. In 67 at-bats, he has barreled a team-high 28 hits that include five doubles, a triple, and a pair of round-trippers to equal 20 RBI and 15 runs scored. Junior second baseman Christopher Scalisi (Woodland Hills, CA) continues his solid showings at the dish with 27 hits to equal a .370 batting average. In addition, he was one struck out just once this season while drawing 10 walks. Senior third baseman Mark Tumlinson (Anaheim, CA) brings the power to the lineup by launching three bombs en route to 18 RBI on the season.

Senior hurler Michael Collins (Upland, CA) highlights the pitching efforts by tallying 34.1 innings to boast a record of 1-1 and an ERA of 3.15 in six games started. Most recently, he took a no-hitter into the eighth inning in a 2-1 extra-inning victory over the Kingsmen. Junior closer John White (Burbank, CA) highlights an effective bullpen by earning three saves on the year and fanning 20 batters in just 12.2 innings.

The Bulldogs look to take four-in-a-row on Friday, March 18 as they face off against Ithaca College Bombers at The Yard at 3 p.m.
