The No. 15 University of Redlands baseball team clinched one victory during a three-game series against Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent, University of La Verne, this past weekend. The Bulldogs dropped the first game at The Yard in a heartbreaking 7-8 decision, and then posted respective scores of 6-1 and 6-9 on the road at Mt. San Antonio College.

The Bulldogs pieced together a great game-two win with a stellar start from junior pitcher Paul Dippel (East Granby, CT) and plenty of hitting as Redlands racked up 13 base-knocks.

Dippel notched his second victory of the 2012 campaign, tossing six innings while allowing just one run on four hits. The slinger also didn't give up a single walk and struck out two Leopards. Fellow junior Eliot Smith (West Linn, OR) came out of the pen to pick up his first Bulldog save, chucking three scoreless frames.

At the dish, five Bulldogs recorded a multi-hit effort and six players recorded an RBI. Senior second baseman Cameron Lowe (Olympia, WA) and freshman designated hitter Nathaniel Acosta (Chino Hills, CA) each ripped a triple.

In Friday's first game, Redlands held a solid lead for the majority of the contest but struggled in the eighth, giving up five La Verne runs.

Junior Kyle Hart (Burbank, CA) got the starting nod and threw the first six innings while registering a three-run, seven-hit, one-walk and one-strikeout line in the no decision.

The Maroon and Gray had almost a replica story in the third game, holding a 5-1 lead after six innings, but eventually fell to the Leopards, 6-9.

Starter senior southpaw Adam Byrd (Bullhead City, AZ) put the squad in great position, surrendering only one run over six frames on four hits while ringing up four batters in the process.

Senior left fielder Trenton Lively (La Verne, CA) has been on a tear as of late and game three was no different for the corner outfielder. He launched his team-leading fifth homer of the season while going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run and a walk.

Redlands next sees action on Friday as the crew heads to Cal Lutheran University for the first of a three-game series against the Kingsmen. The Bulldogs return home to The Yard on Saturday for a doubleheader at 11 a.m.
