Charlie Baum, Ciara Aw, and Peyton Fendrich named All-SCIAC

REDLANDS, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their all-conference selections for women's soccer this week and the University of Redlands had three selections, one on the first team and two on the second team. On the first team was midfielder Charlie Baum (Hesperia, CA), and on the second team was defender Ciara Aw (Shoreline, WA) and midfielder Peyton Fendrich (Clackamas, OR).

This is the 28th-straight season a Bulldog has been named to an All-SCIAC team with the 1993 team being the last year with no representatives. Dating back to 1986 the Bulldogs have had at least one selection in all but three seasons.

As the lone representative on the All-SCIAC First Team, Baum recorded her best statistical season of her career after deciding to come back for her fifth season, posting two goals and an assist from her defensive midfielder position. Both of her goals were the first of her career and she receives All-SCIAC recognition for the first time in her career.

Baum's two goals came in a 3-0 win at home against La Verne (October 5) when she scored twice off free kicks, one from just inside the midfield line and another from the wing, just outside the 18-yard box. The first beat the keeper after taking a bounce inside the box and the second found the inside of the far netting where the keeper had no chance.

Aw finds herself on the 2nd Team for the first time in her career after she helped the Bulldogs post four shutouts this season. She played in and started all 17 games for the Bulldogs as a stalwart as a centerback leading a defensive unit that held opponents to a .126 shot percentage and a 1.94 goals against average.

Fendrich also lands on the 2nd Team for the first time in her career. She added four goals and an assist to her career totals, which now sit at ten goals and three assists. She was a goal contributor in five different games and was the lone scorer in two of them. In the three contests against the best SCIAC team, Pomona-Pitzer, she scored or assisted on three of the four Bulldog goals.

The Bulldogs finished their 2022 season with a 6-10-1, 6-5-1 SCIAC record. They also qualified for the SCIAC Tournament as the No. 4 seed.  Their six wins marks the fourth-straight season under Head Coach Suzette Soboti the Bulldogs have won at least six games in a single season.
