Courtney Stewart named SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week

REDLANDS, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Athletes of the Week in the fourth week of voting.  University of Redlands junior goalkeeper Courtney Stewart (San Jose, CA) was selected as the Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week following a perfect week between the posts.

Courtney helped anchor a Bulldog defensive unit in a 2-1 conference victory over Occidental. She turned away nine shots on goal by the Tigers, with seven of those coming in the second half. In 90 minutes of action during the week, Stewart registered a .900 save percentage and notched a 1.00 goals-against average. 

She leads the Maroon and Grey into a SCIAC match-up Wednesday, September 29 when they host Pomona-Pitzer beginning at 7:00pm.  The last time these two teams met the Sagehens were ranked No. 3 in the Division III National Polls and that night the Bulldogs fell 2-1, with the eventual game-winner coming in the final twenty minutes of the match.
