The University of Redlands women's soccer team headed West to Thousand Oaks for a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) matchup against Cal Lutheran University on Wednesday night. After a hard-fought 90 minutes, the Bulldogs ultimately fell to the Regals, 0-3.

Sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Stewart (San Jose, CA) was tested early in the action but made a quick stop to keep the Regals off the board. In the eighth minute, senior forward Eva Vlassopoulos (Portland, OR) made moves around defenders and blasted a nice shot on target, but the CLU keeper got in front of the ball and made the save. Vlassopoulos had another opportunity just three minutes later but her shot missed wide.

The Regals scored in the 30th minute, forcing Redlands to play catch up with 15 minutes left to play until halftime. Stewart made two more saves in the ensuing time for just a one-goal deficit at the break.

CLU got off to a quick start with another goal in the opening minute of the second. Nonetheless, junior midfielder Tristen Sherley (Novato, CA) and sophomore midfielder Peyton Fendrich (Clackamas, OR) peppered the goal with shots only 20 seconds apart but there was a little too much force on each one as they sailed high.

Senior midfielder Emily Falla (Woodinville, WA) and Sherly both got good looks on frame in the 56th and 58th minute, but again the CLU keeper made the stops. Fendrich and sophomore forward Skylar Pogue (Simi Valley, CA) continued to play hard and push the offense but time ran out before the Bulldogs could make their move resulting in a 0-3 loss.

Junior goalkeeper Kennedy Kerr (Bellevue, WA) and sophomore keeper Kaiah Mooradian (Fort Collins, CO) teamed up to make five stops in the second half.

Redlands heads to Division II Azusa Pacific University on Tuesday, April 6, for a 2 p.m. game against the Cougars.
