The University of Redlands women's lacrosse team took on the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday morning in an important Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match in Claremont.  After a slow start, the Bulldogs struggled to overcome an early deficit and fell by a score of 6-13.

Amidst a defensive battle, the Sagehens jumped out to a 4-1 lead by the end of the first half.  Redlands' only score came off the stick of senior midfielder Ellen Holt (Happy Valley, OR), who received a nice pass from freshman attack player Kelsey Ruhl (Seattle, WA) with 20:34 remaining in the period.

The Bulldogs battled until the very end but it was not enough to grab the lead.  Freshman midfielder Hanna Morford (West Linn, OR) fired one past the Sagehen goalkeeper off of an assist by senior midfielder Stephanie Garrett (San Diego, CA) early in the second stanza.  Senior midfielder Sam Keary's (Mission Viejo, CA) free-position goal cut the Maroon and Gray's deficit in half with 23:57 left in the game, but Pomona-Pitzer scored in back-to-back succession to keep Redlands at bay.

Garrett, freshman attack player Hayley Donnelly (Bellaire, TX), and Keary notched the final goals for the Bulldogs, while Holt and Donnelly registered assists.

Redlands won the draw control battle, earning a 12-9 ratio.  Garrett led this effort with four, while Morford collected two.  However, the Bulldogs struggled to keep possession and gave up 21 turnovers.

Sophomore goalkeeper Quinn Egan (Greenwood Village, CO) stepped into the Bulldog cage late in the first half and racked up 10 saves in just over 40 minutes of action.

Redlands (10-6 4-5 SCIAC) returns home to the friendly confines of Farquhar Field for Senior Night on Wednesday, April 20, at 7 p.m.
