U of R Women's Golf Travels to Houston for NCAA Championships

It was announced on Monday afternoon that the University of Redlands women's golf team gained one of the seven at-large berths to the 2022 NCAA Division III Championships in Houston, Texas, at Bay Oaks Country Club on May 10-13.  The Bulldogs make their fifth appearance since 2015, following last year's program-best fourth-place finish at the national tournament.

After the first 54 holes of competition in Houston, the top 15 teams and top six individuals not from one of those teams will advance to the fourth and final day of the NCAA Division III Championships.  For the team leaderboard, the low four scores from each squad will determine each team's total score for each round.

According to GolfStat, junior Hannah Jugar (Chula Vista, CA) paces the Bulldogs with a team-low adjusted scoring average of 74.43 to rank sixth nationally.  Senior Malia Kiger (Hermosa Beach, CA) and sophomore Andrea York (Oakdale, CA) follow at 28th and 32nd on the rankings, respectively.  Sophomore Iris Liu (Diamond Bar, CA), sophomore Gabrielle Kiger (Hermosa Beach, CA), and senior Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA) round out the squad that finished second at the 2022 SCIAC Championships.  They each offer adjusted scoring averages between 76.37 and 77.49.

Beyond Redlands, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) will be well-represented at the NCAA Championships, with Pomona-Pitzer Colleges earning the automatic qualification and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges also securing an at-large berth.

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Harris County-Houston Sports Authority will serve as hosts of the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships.
