The No. 4 University of Redlands women's golf team began the 2015 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships on Sunday at the Oak Valley Golf Course in nearby Beaumont.  With freshman Caroline Ordian (Palm Desert, CA) leading the charge, the Bulldogs recorded an opening score of 309 to sit at the top of the leaderboard after 18 holes.

With the aggregate score of all conference rounds determining the champion, the Bulldogs extended its lead over the other schools by a six-stroke margin.

Ordian remained true to her impressive rookie form by shooting a team-best 74 with four birdies and eight pars.  She currently sits in third place in the individual standings.

Senior Dalton Meade (Sandy, OR) closely followed by signing her day-one scorecard with a 75 after hitting 13 pars, while sophomore Raquel Gordon (Culver City, CA) fired off a 76 with three birdies.

In addition, sophomore Kari Gordon (Culver City, CA) and junior McKenna Pautsch (San Clement, CA) both came off the course tied-for-tenth after shooting an 80 during the opening round.

Junior Amberlynn Dorsey (Highland, CA) registered an 86 to complete the Bulldogs' scorers on the first of the three-day competition.

Redlands returns to the course at Oak Valley for round two on Monday, April 27.  First tee time is set for 7:30 a.m.
