Hannah Jerrier named SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Women's Basketball Athletes of the Week in the tenth week of voting and University of Redlands graduate student Hannah Jerrier (Canton, MA) was selected as the SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season and the tenth time in her career. 

Hannah had a record-breaking week for the University of Redlands Women's Basketball team as they went 1-1, which included a 62-56 win over Chapman University.  The loss coming on a last second three-pointer at the buzzer on the road against California Lutheran University.  Jerrier totaled 19 rebounds over the two games, 13 of them defensive.  She also added seven assists, three steals and five blocks.  Along with the defensive stat line she also averaged 9.5 PPG, while shooting 42.9% from the field.

Her three blocks on Saturday breaks the University of Redlands career record of 128 held by Courtney Carroll (2009-12) as she now has 130. The three blocks also gives her 47 on the season, tying her with Mackenzie Smith (2010-11), for the most single-season blocks. She also currently sits eighth in single-season total rebounds (244), fifth in defensive rebounds (167), and ninth in offensive rebounds (77).

Redlands returns to the court Wednesday night, February 1 when they host Caltech beginning at 7:00pm inside Currier Gym.
