Hannah Jerrier named SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week

SCIAC Women's Basketball Weekly Release No. 6

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Women's Basketball Athletes of the Week in the sixth week of voting and University of Redlands graduate student Hannah Jerrier (Canton, MA) was selected as the SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second time this season and the eighth time in her career.

Jerrier continues to be a dominant interior presence, notching another three double-doubles this past week as the University of Redlands went 3-1 that included a SCIAC victory over Whittier College, an overtime win at Pacific Lutheran University and a solid home win against Illinois College. The graduate student tallied a superb all-around line of 12.5 points per game, 13.8 rebounds per game, 2.3 assists per game, 3.3 steals per game and 2.5 blocks per game.

Against Whittier she had nine points, eleven rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block.  Then during the PLU Tournament posted 18 points, 17 boards, two steals and four blocks against No. 20 Puget Sound and then 10 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, five steals and three blocks against Pacific Lutheran.  The last double double came against Illinois College where she added a 13 point, 11 rebound, two assist, three steals, and two block effort.     

Redlands returns to the court after the holiday break, Wednesday-Thursday, December 28-29 when they take part in the Panther Tournament hosted by Chapman University.  The first day they take on Albion College (4:00pm) and then return the next day to go up against Wisc.-La Crosse (2:00pm.
