Redlands Rewind with Alyssa Lee: February 29, 2020

Today's Redlands Rewind kicks off the winter sports' walk down memory lane with senior Alyssa Lee of the University of Redlands women's basketball team.  With an impressive run throughout the 2019-20 season, the Bulldogs captured the "double championship" by winning the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) regular-season and postseason tournament titles.  The latter became a reality on February 29, 2020.

"It was the most memorable game because my goal before the season was to make this the best year for Cassandra Lacey, the only senior on our team. Once the buzzer went off, I knew [we had] accomplished that goal," Lee stated.  "I am so proud of all the hard work and dedication that she and the rest of the team put in throughout the entire season."

That night, Redlands edged out rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in overtime by a score of 62-55 to secure the automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.  In front of a raucous crowd in Currier Gym, Lacey scored the first four points of the extra period before a relentless defensive effort kept the Athenas scoreless on six shots.
