NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the recipients of the 2023 All-West Region honors this week, with 18 members of the University of Redlands Track & Field teams being selected across 18 events.  The All-Region selections include the top five individuals in each event and the top three relays in outdoor track & field from member institutions within each region.

The Redlands women had 11 athletes earn recognition.  The 4x100 Relay team highlighted the selections consisting of Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, CA), Sydney Harness (Henderson, NV), Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) and Maigan Adams (Los Angeles, CA).  The group ran a 47.05 at SCIAC No. 2 ranking them No. 3 in SCIAC, No. 3 in the West Region, and No. 3 in program history.  Ackerman and Harness have now become All-Region selections in this event for the third and second times, respectively.          

Ciara Aw (Shoreline, WA) and Adams led the jumps earning All-Region nods in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump. Aw ranked No. 1 in SCIAC, No. 1 in the West Region, and No. 2 in program history in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.76m (18'10.75") coming at the Redlands Final Qualifier.  She was also atop the Triple Jump standings within SCIAC at a mark of 11.35m (37'3"), which came at the SCIAC Championships. Her Triple Jump mark is No. 2 in the West Region and No. 6 in program history. Aw is a two-time All-Region selection in Indoor Track & Field and is now a three-time All-Region selection in the Long Jump.

Adams has produced big numbers in just her second year with the Maroon and Grey ranking second behind Aw in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump.  In the LJ she went 5.56m (18'6.5") coming at SCIAC No. 3, and in the TJ was at an 11.33m (37'2.25"), which came at the SCIAC Championships. Her Long Jump mark is No. 2 in SCIAC and the West Region, and No. 4 in program history with her Triple Jump mark ranking No. 2, 4, and 7 in SCIAC, West Region, and program history. Adams is now a two-time All-Region selection in the Triple Jump.

Chloe Bullock (Hood River, OR) was selected All-Region in the 800m for the first time in her career after leading SCIAC with a 2:12.95.  She posted this time at the APU Franson Last Chance Meet and it ranks her No. 1 in SCIAC, No. 3 in the West Region, and No. 6 in program history.

First-year Elee Faulkner (Blaine, WA) represented well in the 400m Hurdles earning her first All-Region nod.  She ranked No. 2 in SCIAC, No. 2 in the West Region, and No. 3 in program history with a time of 1:02.82, which came at the Redlands Final Qualifier.

Harness, on top of joining the All-Region 4x100 Relay team also picked up another two All-Region awards in the 100m and 200m, both firsts in her career.  In the 100m she clocked an 11.90, which places her No. 2 in SCIAC, No. 2 in the West Region, and is a new program record. Then in the 200m she ran a 24.77, which again places her No. 2 in SCIAC and the West Region. Both times she ran at the Redlands Final Qualifier.

Ackerman, on top of yet another All-Region selection in the 4x100 Relay was also recognized for the fourth straight year in the 100m.  This year she ran a 12.04 coming at the Redlands Final Qualifier ranking her No. 4 in SCIAC and the West Region.      

Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA) picked up three All-Region awards this year, giving her five total in her career.  She has now become an All-Region selection in the 100m Hurdles for the second straight year and picks up her first All-Region nods in the 400m Hurdles and the Heptathlon. In the 100m Hurdles she ran a 14.62 coming at the Redlands Final Qualifier ranking her No. 2 in SCIAC and No. 5 in the West Region and in program history, improving her time of 14.65 last season. In the 400m Hurdles she ranked No. 4 in SCIAC and No. 5 in the West Region and program history with a time of 1:04.65 coming at the SCIAC Championships. Her last event was the Heptathlon where she totaled 4435 points at the Redlands Final Qualifier, which ranked her No. 1 in the conference, No. 2 in the West Region, and No. 5 in program history.            

Noelle Chavez (Yucaipa, CA) for the third straight year lands on the All-Region team in the Discus.  She ranked No. 2 in SCIAC and No. 5 in the West Region with a mark of 41.22m (135'3"), which came at SCIAC No. 2.

Her teammate Caeli Havel (Pahrump, NV) was right above her in the same event ranking No. 1 in SCIAC, No. 4 in the West Region, and No. 6 in program history with a throw of 41.54m (136'3"), coming at the Redlands Final Qualifier.  This is Havel's first All-Region selection in the Discus. 

Timony Sherry (Shoreline, WA) was the last thrower to be selected to the All-Region team coming in the Shot Put where she excelled leading SCIAC, ranking No. 5 in the West Region, and No. 5 in program history with a throw of 40' 7.5", coming at SCIAC No. 2.  This is also her first All-Region selection.


On the men's side seven athletes were recognized across seven events led by Markelle Raymond (Fresno, CA) who was All-Region in the 4x100 Relay, 100m, and the Long Jump.  This season he has the top time/mark in each event for the Bulldogs going 10.45 in the 100m, 40.91 in the 4x100 Relay and 7.46m in the Long Jump.  Within conference he ranked No. 1, No. 1 in the West Region, and No. 3 in program history in the Long Jump (APU Franson Last Chance), No. 2 in SCIAC, No. 3 in the West Region, and No. 3 in program history in the 100m (Redlands Final Qualifier), and No. 2 in SCIAC, No. 2 in the West Region, and No. 4 in program history in the 4x100 Relay (Pomona-Pitzer Invite). He is now an All-Region selection for the second straight year in the 100m, but received honors in the 4x100 Relay and Long Jump for the first time.             

Allyn Asberry-Blanco (Orange County, NY) had a breakout 2023 in the Triple Jump earning All-Region accolades for the first time in his career. He posted a 14.03m jump (46'0.5"), which came during SCIAC No. 3 and now ranks him No. 1 in SCIAC and No. 5 in the West Region.

Cristian Megas (Palmdale, CA) lands on the All-Region team in the 4x100 Relay and the 200m. In the 200m he ranked No. 2 in SCIAC, No. 5 in the West Region, and No. 3 in program history with a time of 21.31, which he earned during SCIAC No. 2. 

Jamir Jones (Fairfield, CA) earns All-Region accolades for the first time in his career after putting together a tremendous 2023 in the 400m.  He ran a 48.23, which is the third best time in SCIAC and the fourth best time in the West Region as he posted it during the SCIAC Championships.

Jacob Huset (Tacoma, WA) becomes an All-Region selection for the second straight year in the High Jump. He was right on his mark from a year ago jumping 2.01m (6'7"), which he earned at the Jim Click Shootout.  This mark ranks him No. 1 in SCIAC and No. 5 in the West Region.

Gabriel Meunier (Winslow, AZ) and Cooper Malerstein (Huntington Beach, CA) were both a part of the 4x100 Relay that was named All-Region.  They both ran the first two legs of the event helping the team post a 40.91, ranking them No. 2 in SCIAC and the West Region.

Redlands looks forward to the NCAA Division III National Championships, which take place this week May 25-27 at the Polisseni Track & Field Complex at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, N.Y.
