Four Redlands Men's Track & Field athletes earn All-SCIAC honors

2023 Men's Track & Field All-SCIAC Team

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the 2023 Men's Track and Field All-SCIAC awards Wednesday as four University of Redlands Men's Track & Field athletes were recognized in six events finishing inside the Top-3 of their respective events.

In the 100m Markelle Raymond (Fresno, CA) was the runner up with a time of 10.70. He also earned All-SCIAC status in the Long Jump, which he won with a mark of 7.10m/23' 3.5", giving him a personal best that he beat last weekend at the Occidental Invitational. With these two awards he is now a five-time All-SCIAC member after taking second in the 100m, second on the 4x100 relay team, and third in the Long Jump last season.

In the 400m Jamir Jones (Fairfield, CA) took third with a time of 48.23, a personal best. Jones is now a four-time All-SCIAC member having earned the honor twice last season in the 400m (49.00) when he took second and in the 4x100 relay (41.38) when the Bulldogs were champions. In 2021 he made it in the 400m (50.37).

Owen Schmitz (Fremont, CA) won the High Jump with a 1.87m/6' 1.5" mark and took third in the Triple Jump with a 13.57m/44' 6.25" mark. These are his first two All-SCIAC honors.

The fourth Bulldog to earn All-SCIAC recognition is Allyn Asberry-Blanco (Orange County, N.Y.) who won the Triple Jump with a mark of 13.74m/45' 1".

As a team the Bulldogs took third with 95 points at the SCIAC Championships. The next meet for the Bulldogs will be in Azusa at the Azusa Pacific University Last Chance Meet this Friday-Saturday, May 12-13 as athletes look to meet their NCAA Qualifying times and marks.
