Jacob Huset and Ciara Aw qualify for NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships

REDLANDS, Calif. – Jacob Huset (Tacoma, WA) and Ciara Aw (Shoreline, WA) will represent the University of Redlands Track and Field teams at the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Birmingham, Alabama this Friday-Saturday, March 10-11.

Each athlete will be competing at the Indoor National Championships for the first time in their careers. For Huset, he qualified for the weekend in the High Jump thanks to a new personal best mark at the Northern Arizona University (NAU) Tune-Up on February 17 where he jumped 2.03m/6' 7.75" to finish third gaining him qualification. His jump moves him from a tie for eighth place in the all-time High Jump Top-10 to sitting by himself at No. 8 as he improves his mark by 0.5".

Two weeks prior at the same location, he took fourth with a jump of 1.93m/6' 4", but that was his first competition since the Redlands Invitational on May 18-19, 2022.

Huset heads into the championships in a tie for 17th place and will be the No. 19 seed. His event will start at 1:45 p.m. PST on Saturday, March 11.

Aw qualified this weekend in the Long Jump following her personal best mark of 5.64m/18' 6", also coming at the NAU Tune-Up a few weeks ago. Her first indoor competition of the season was February 3-4 at NAU where she jumped 5.43m/17' 9.75" taking second at the Ron Mann Classic.

She improves her all-time third-best mark by 2 ¼" from 18' 3 ¾" at the Redlands Invitational in 2022. She sits only one inch behind second place Kara Romani and 1' 5" behind school record holder Natalie Calderon.

Aw is the No. 16 seed for the championships in the Long Jump which starts on Friday, March 10 at 9:00 a.m. PST.
