Bulldog Track and Field has 32 top-eight finishes at Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Track and Field teams sent over 50 athletes to the Pomona-Pitzer Collegiate All-Comers meet over the weekend where the Bulldog men and women combined for 32 top-eight finishes with event wins coming from Nikolas Sorich (San Jose, CA) and Noelle Chavez (Yucaipa, CA) in the long jump and discus.

Men

The Bulldogs had top-eight finishes in the 200M, 400M, 100M Hurdles, 400M Hurdles, High Jump, Pole Vault, Long Jump, Triple Jump, and Hammer.

Gabriel Meunier (Winslow, Az) came in eighth in the 200M with a time of 23.15. This was Meunier's first outdoor collegiate meet, he also ran the 100M.

Hunter Greer (Wildomar, CA) was the lone 400M runner for the Bulldogs, finishing seventh with a time of 52.64.

In the 100M Hurdles Allyn Asberry-Blanco (Orange County, N.Y.) and hometown runner Gael Orozco (Claremont, CA) went 7-8 with times of 16.42 and 16.44.

Nathan Mestre (Chula Vista, CA) ran the 400M Hurdles and finished eighth with a sub-60 time of 59.79, only 0.4 seconds off his personal best.

Owen Schmitz (Freemont, CA) backed up his personal best jump from the Ron Mann Classic two weeks prior with a 1.85m/6' 0.75" mark and a second-place finish.

The Bulldogs brought back three top-eight finishes in the pole vault with Jack Gordon (Las Vegas, NV) and Corte Peterson (Lafayette, CO) tying for third at 4.31m/14' 1.75". Michael Meheen (Carmel, CA) was eighth with a successful mark of 4.01m/13' 1.75".

Sorich won the long jump with a first jump of 6.49m/21' 3.5". This was his first meet as a Bulldog. Cameron Kisob (Burbank, CA) and Schmitz came in fourth and seventh thanks to jumps of 6.35m/20' 10" and 6.16m/20' 2.5", respectively.  

Redlands continued their fantastic start to the season in the jumping events with Asberry-Blanco, Sorich, and Kisob coming in fourth, fifth, and eighth in the triple jump. Asberry-Blanco had a 13.14m/43' 1.5" jump, Sorich jumped 12.69m/41' 7.75", and Kisob was at an 11.74m/38' 6.25".

Rounding out the strong day for the Bulldogs was Tyler Davies (Lake Forest, CA) who placed sixth in the hammer with a second throw of 38.39m/125' 11". Davies would take sixth in the event.

Women

Leading off the top-eight finishes was first-year dual sport athlete Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) who ran her first collegiate 100M in 12.84 finishing fourth. She also took sixth in the 200M with a time of 26.52.

Elisabeth Eichinger (Yucaipa, CA) and Elee Faulkner (Blaine, WA) came across the line in sixth and eighth in the 100M Hurdles with times of 16.70 and 16.99.

Faulkner added to her great first collegiate outdoor meet with a third-place finish in the 400M Hurdles and a fifth-place finish in the high jump with a time of 1:06.65 and a jump of 1.45m/4' 9".

Joining Faulkner with a top-eight finish in the jumping events was Christen Wiley (South San Francisco, CA) who jumped 9.83m/32' 3" in the triple jump.

Finally, in the throwing events the Bulldogs had eight top-eight finishes. In the shot put Timony Sherry (Shoreline, WA) and Caeli Havel (Pahrump, NV) took fifth and eighth with throws of 10.43m/34' 2.75" and 9.75m/32' 0".

Chavez led a one-two finish in the discus with a winning throw of 39.30m/128' 11". Coming as the runner-up was Havel who had a throw of 38.64m/126' 9". Leslie Sernaque Falcon (Concord, CA) and Sherry took fifth and sixth with throws of 34.17m/112' 1" and 33.92m/111' 3".

In the hammer Sernaque Falcon led the way with a third place finish and a throw of 38.99m/127' 11". She was followed by Chavez and Grace Beaty (Upland, CA) who posted throws of 37.98m/124' 7" and 37.71m/123' 9".

The Bulldogs enter into their first SCIAC Dual Meet on Saturday, March 4, hosted by Caltech beginning at 10:00am.
