FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The University of Redlands Track & Field teams got their 2023 season underway over the weekend competing in the two-day Ron Mann Classic in Flagstaff, AZ, hosted by Northern Arizona University (NAU).

The Bulldogs competed well finishing with 14 Top-10 performances.

In the high jump Jacob Huset (Tacoma, WA) finished fourth with his best mark coming at 1.93m/6' 4". Right behind him was Owen Schmitz (Fremont, CA) who successfully cleared 1.88m/6' 2" for fifth place. That 1.88m is a new personal best for Schmitz, beating out a 1.87m at the SCIAC Championships a year ago.

Allyn Asberry-Blanco (Orange County, N.Y.) had a strong jump of 13.08m/42' 11" in his second attempt in the triple jump which placed him 10th overall as the lone Bulldog in the event.

Women

Coming off an All-American cross-country season last fall, sophomore Chloe Bullock (Hood River, OR) posted a pair of Top-10 finishes in the 800m and the Mile. Both events she finished eighth with times of 2:26.37 (800m) and a new personal best of 5:18.24 (Mile).

Elee Faulkner (Blaine, WA) was the top Bulldog finisher in the high jump, clearing 1.47m/4' 9.75" in her first collegiate appearance.

In the other two jump events the Bulldogs were well represented with three Top-10 finishes one in the Long Jump and two in the Triple Jump with Maigan Adams (Los Angeles, CA) and Christen Wiley (South San Francisco, CA) each finishing inside the Top-10 in both events.

Leading the way in the Long Jump was Ciara Aw (Shoreline, WA) who took second place with a mark of 5.43m/17' 9.75". Adams was seventh in the Long Jump with a mark of 4.83m/15' 10.25" and was fifth in the Triple Jump with a best mark of 11.58m/38'. Wiley was ninth in the Long Jump and 10th in the Triple Jump with marks of 4.61m/15' 1.5" and 10.14m/33' 3.25".

Timony Sherry (Shoreline, WA) began her senior year strong with a personal best throw of 11.47m/37' 7.75" in the Shot Put as she took sixth. That throw would have gotten her second place at the SCIAC Championships last season where she took third.

Three spots behind Sherry was Caeli Havel (Pahrump, NV) who had her best throw come in her third attempt when she posted a mark of 10.58m/34' 8.5".

The final Top-10 finisher on the women's side was Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA) who competed in her first pentathlon, placing 10th with 2885 points. Her best finish of the five events came in the 800m where she took seventh with a time of 2:39.80, which was a new personal best.
