Redlands Track & Field Boasts Solid Marks at Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers Meet

The University of Redlands track & field program competed in the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers meet in Claremont on Saturday, gaining quality experience against high-quality competition that ranged from the NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA levels.

On the women's side, sophomore Kaylee Jorgensen (Claremont, CA) placed seventh in the 1000 Meters with a time of 3:06.78, while sophomore Emily Guthormsen (Half Moon Bay, CA) finished 12th with a final mark of 3:11.55.

Senior Lauren Roberts (Portland, OR) performed very well in the 3000 Meters by placing in the top 10 after crossing the finish line in 10:27.39 for ninth place.

Junior Alison Smith (McKinleyville, CA) equaled her career-best mark in the 100 Meter Hurdles by clocking a time of 14.72 to take home the silver medal. Sophomore Courtney Crain (Happy Valley, OR) followed closely by earning fifth place with a time of 15.5.

Sophomore Vanessa Blanchard (Palmdale, CA) jumped to a fifth-place finish in the High Jump by inking a mark of 5' 3".

Sophomore Mandy Widen (Vail, AZ) cleared a height of 11' 1 ¾" to take fourth place.

Freshman Kara Romani (Sacramento, CA) also finished among the top five in the Long Jump by leaping a distance of 17' 3 ¼".

For the men, freshman Nathan Munoz (Rio Rancho, NM) placed fifth overall in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 15.33.

In the 200 Meters, senior Joey Colucci (San Jose, CA) crossed the finish line with a time of 22.37 to earn 15th place. Junior Myles Speegle (Castro Valley, CA) finished shortly behind with a time of 22.7 to earn him 21st place.

Freshman Matthew Hayashi (Hacienda Heights, CA) chucked the Shot Put with power to earn a ninth-place finish with a mark of 41' 8 ¾". Freshman Anthony Ramirez (Ontario, CA) finished right behind him in 10th place with a toss of 41' 4 ½".

Freshman Michael Sahagun (Rosemead, CA) had a solid day in two field events by finishing among the top 15 in each. He uncorked a distance of 129' 3" in the Discus for 10th place while recording a heave of 40' 10 ¼" in the Shot Put for 14th place.

In addition, junior Sam Yaeger (Mission Viejo, CA) placed seventh in the Hammer with a mark of 125' to earn him seventh place.

The Bulldogs take to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competition on Saturday, March 5, for the SCIAC Multi-Dual Meet No. 1 at Pomona-Pitzer. The time is set for 11 a.m.
