Bulldog Track & Field Impresses at Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers Meet

The University of Redlands track & field program competed at the high-caliber Pomona-Pitzer Collegiate All-Comers on Saturday, gaining quality marks against all levels of competition.  Highlighting the men's outing, the 4x400 Relay of sophomore Auston Tribble, junior Pekthra Chhor (Loma Linda, CA), senior Dominic Lopez (Las Vegas, NV), and senior Antwain Morgan (Granada Hills, CA) unleashed a winning time of 3:25.21 to better all other teams at the meet.

Beyond the stellar relay's showing, seniors Chris Bolt (Reno, NV) and Della Lyle (Buffalo, WY) shined in their respective 3000-meter races.  Bolt reset the school record with his time of 8:48.74, improving upon Jeremy Kalmus' time from the same meet in 2011.  Lyle recorded the fastest time in the team's NCAA Division III history, crossing the finish line in 10:15.22.  She was nearly 15 seconds faster than Avery Kelly's standard from 2006.

For the men, freshman Afari La-Anyane (Morgan Hill, CA) fired off a fourth-place time of 15.75 in the 110 Hurdles, while Lopez finished fifth in the 1000 Meters with a time of 2:33.46.  In addition, junior Joey Colucci (San Jose, CA) registered a time of 11.08 to take sixth in the 100 Meters.

Headlining the field events, freshman Brenden Harlan (Albuquerque, NM) leaped to fourth place in the Triple Jump with a mark of 43' ½".

For the women, freshman Vanessa Blanchard (Palmdale, CA) and senior Merritt ten Hope (Phoenix, AZ) provided the Bulldogs' highest finishes with second-place performances.  Blanchard cleared a height of 5' 3" in the High Jump, just surpassing senior teammate Maddie Smith (Hoquiam, WA) in the standings by a judge's decision.  Ten Hope took second in the Pole Vault after reaching a height of 11' 5", which is already better than her season-best mark from 2014.

Furthermore, sophomore Maddie O'Leary (Vernonia, OR) came in fourth with a Discus toss of 116' 10", while junior Kylie Scott (Snohomish, WA) took fifth in the Hammer Throw by recording a heave of 133' 2", which is just two inches off of her career-best mark.

Finally, sophomore Alison Smith (McKinleyville, CA) uncorked a distance of 104' 11" in the Javelin for fifth place while also recording a time of 15.55 in the 100 Hurdles for sixth place.

Redlands looks forward to hosting its first of three home meets this season with the opening Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Multi-Dual on Saturday, March 7, at 11 a.m. on Ashel Cunningham Track inside of Ted Runner Stadium.
