Tom Jansen finishes 21st in 500 Free at NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving National Championships got underway Wednesday morning in Greensboro, N.C. and University of Redlands graduate student Tom Jansen (Pleasant Hill, CA) got his trip started in a big way competing in the 500 Free. 
 
The 500 Free was a bonus event that he was able to compete in and he came in with a seed time of 4:33.29, which put him 36th overall in the field of 39 competitors.  He swam in the first of five prelims and came away with a 21st place finish with a time of 4:31.97, dropping 1.6 seconds off his personal best time.  He also moved up 15 spots from his original seeding.        
 
Tom has his main event on Saturday, March 18 when he competes in the 1650 Free beginning at 12:05pm EST.  The event will go till 1:50pm EST and will include six heats alternating between the women (3 heats) and the men (3 heats).
