LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced Friday the 373 student-athletes from 174 schools who comprise the 2023 NFCA Division III All-Region teams.

The University of Redlands had representation on the 2nd Team from first-year pitcher Katlyn Gandara (Whittier, CA), who was also named 1st Team All-SCIAC and the SCIAC Pitcher of the Year.

This marks back-to-back years the Bulldogs have had a player selected to the All-West Region team and the fourth under Head Coach Jose Ortega.  In 2022 Collette Allen and Tyesen Gordon were both recognized on the 1st and 2nd Teams, respectively and prior to that Julianne Rodriguez landed on the 2nd Team in 2019.

Redlands has a 27-15, 14-7 SCIAC record, won a share of the 2023 SCIAC Regular Season Championship and took home the 2023 SCIAC Tournament Title, while qualifying for the NCAA Division III National Championships.

Gandara played a pivotal role this season as the Bulldog ace with 16 wins, a 1.62 ERA in 168.2 innings thrown.  She added 64 strikeouts, 16 complete games, five shutouts and a save.  In conference she ranked No. 1 in wins (16), appearances (29), shutouts (5), innings pitched (168.2), hits allowed (158), and at-bats against (648), No. 2 in complete games (16), and No. 4 in ERA (1.62).

In the SCIAC Tournament she was impressive leading the Maroon and Grey to a 3-1 record across the three days.  During this stretch she started all four games and threw all 30.0 Innings giving up just two earned runs, scattering 21 hits, striking out eleven, while posting a 0.47 ERA.

All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced May 31 online and on-site at the NCAA Division III Finals banquet in Marshall, Texas.
