SCIAC Men's Water Polo Weekly Release (No. 5)

REDLANDS, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Athletes of the Week in the fifth week of voting.  University of Redlands senior goalie Jason Gates (San Jose, CA) was selected as the Men's Water Polo Defensive Athlete of the Week following a strong five game stretch. 

During No. 7 Redlands' 2-3 week, Gates led the defensive efforts as the Bulldogs picked up a 14-10 win over Ottawa (Ariz.) and a 14-12 win over No. 8 Johns Hopkins. Their three losses came to Chapman in SCIAC play (12-10), Fordham University (12-6), and Long Beach State (18-2). Over the five games Gates totaled 55 saves and five steals.

Ottawa University – 11 Saves | 1 Steal

Johns Hopkins – 9 Saves | 1 Steal

Long Beach State – 8 Saves

Jason leads the Maroon and Grey into a big week with Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play.  The Bulldogs host the University of La Verne on Wednesday, October 6 (7:00pm) and then Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday, October 9 (11:00am).
