Bulldog Men’s Tennis Headed to Ojai Championships

Ojai Tennis Championship Draws

VENTURA, Calif. – The University of Redlands Men's Tennis team is headed to the 2022 Ojai Tennis Championships this weekend, being played in Ventura, CA from April 22-24.

Four Bulldogs will be competing in the Open Singles Draw with another taking part in the Independent.  Two doubles teams will also be competing in the Open Draw as well.

Max Hoffman (Taipei, Taiwan) is the lone representative for the Maroon and Grey in the Independent Draw and will open the Championships with a Round of 32 Match-Up with Prayag Ahire from Whittier College.

Sophomore Stefan Hester (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) and first year Jack Mattox (Mercer Island, WA) find themselves in the Open Draw as No. 5 seeds with a pair of opening round match-ups in the Round of 32.  Hester, the top player for the Bulldogs will take on Griffin Biernat from Cal Lutheran and Mattox who has moved to No. 2 in the lineup will face-off against Daniel Wen from Caltech.

The other two Bulldogs competing include first year Josh Nelson (Montrose, NY) and junior Donovan Lilov (San Diego, CA) who will both go against Chapman University Panthers in the Round of 32.  Nelson will face Mac Caldwell and Lilov will have to look for an upset as he is matched up against the No. 2 seed Caleb Wilkins.

In doubles Nelson and Lilov are paired up together and will have a tough opening round match in the Round of 16 facing the top seeded Sagehens in Snyder/Comadena.  Hester and Mattox who have come into form recently as the top team for the Bulldogs earned the No. 2 seed and will take on Wangen and Kwon from Pacific Lutheran University.
