United Soccer Coaches All-Region Teams
REDLANDS, Calif. – The United Soccer Coaches announced earlier today their All-West Region teams with a trio of University of Redlands Men's Soccer players earning recognition.
Graduates Arian Mogharei (Hayward, Calif.) and Collin ChubbFertal (Eugene, Ore.) were named to the 2nd Team and junior Ethan Kovach (Las Vegas, Nev.) was selected to the 3rd Team. These three players helped the Bulldogs post a 17-3-1, 9-2-1 SCIAC record, win the SCIAC Tournament Title, and earn a berth into the NCAA Division III National Championships.
Mogharei earns accolades by the United Soccer Coaches for the first time in his career after being recognized by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) as their 2021 Defensive Athlete of the Year, while also being named 1st Team All-SCIAC. This year he anchored the backline as a defensive midfielder and finished the season with five goals and three assists, while being a part of a defensive unit that posted eight shutouts and held opponents to a 0.94 goals against average.
ChubbFertal finds himself on the All-West Region team for the second time after landing on the 3rd Team in 2019. He was also named 1st Team All-SCIAC and was in the running for the SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Year. He was the Bulldogs leading scorer this season with 14 goals, seven of which were game winners, while adding a pair of assists. With his 28 career goals, he finishes tied for 10th All-Time in the University of Redlands record books with his older brother Casey.
Kovach also receives recognition for the first time in his career after finishing the season with an all-around line of five goals and six assists, which landed him on the All-SCIAC 1st Team. He finished second on the team with 16 points and was the only other player with five or more goals and assists.
