Matt Beasley named SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week

SCIAC Men's Soccer Weekly Release (No. 5)

REDLANDS, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Athletes of the Week in the fifth week of voting.  University of Redlands junior defender Matt Beasley (Las Vegas, NV) was selected as the Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week following a strong two game road stretch. 

Beasley, a center back helped lift Redlands to a 2-0 week that featured a thrilling, 4-3 victory over Pomona-Pitzer, and a 2-1 victory over Whittier in SCIAC play. In addition to anchoring the Bulldogs' backline, he also provided a pair of goals from his defensive position when he netted the equalizer in the 88th minute of the contest against the Sagehens before Redlands scored the game-winner a minute later. He then provided what stood as the game-winner in the 60th minute against the Poets. 

Matt leads the Bulldogs into two match-ups this week, the first, a non-conference game with UC Santa Cruz on Wednesday, October 6 (7:00pm) before wrapping up the week with a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown with the University of La Verne on Saturday, October 9 (7:00pm).
