Neil Owens named SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week

REDLANDS, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Men's Basketball Athletes of the Week in the fifth week of voting and University of Redlands sophomore guard Neil Owens (Pasadena, CA) was named the SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week.

Owens, who becomes the third Bulldog to be named a SCIAC Athlete of the Week this season helped lead the Maroon and Grey to a 2-0 week that featured a 91-73 SCIAC win over Whittier College, and a 76-62 non-conference victory over UC Santa Cruz. Owens averaged 16.5 points per game, netting 19 in the win over the Poets and 14 in the win over the Banana Slugs. He shot 52.2% from the field, 75% from three-point range - draining 9-of-12 from beyond the arc - and added seven total rebounds. He also dished out five assists and registered a steal during the stretch. 

Redlands returns to the court next Friday, December 17 when they travel to Cal State Fullerton for an exhibition game beginning at 7:00pm.
